Happy Pickers! Picturesque Setting!
2008
CLASSIC TOUR: Come enjoy this totally unique and romantic experience! Help harvest basket-fulls of fragrant rose petals from hundreds of ancient Bulgarian, French and Persian perfume roses growing in our beautiful Rose Fields, all set amidst the vineyards of Dry Creek Valley. Stuff the petals into copper distillation kettles and watch as they are transformed into rose water and rose oil, and you become enveloped in their heady scent. Hear about the history of rose oil and the making of fine perfumes, while you sample the delightful output of the still. All this is just 2 miles southwest from downtown Healdsburg, CA, in the heart of the Sonoma County wine country.
Our Rose Fields with Breathtaking Views
Each Classic Perfume Rose Harvest Tour, which is more like a fun, hands-on mini workshop is limited to 14 persons *, lasts about 1 3/4 hours (children less than 9 yrs generally not recommended) and includes REFRESHMENTS. There is a charge of $9.95 THURSDAYS and $12.95 other days per person per tour and includes admission to our Display Garden (several rose gardens and 8 arch Rose Alleé with over 600+ varieties of antique, climbing and specialty roses) and Rose Nursery/Gift Shop. (*- Larger groups can be accommodated by special arrangement, call 707 433-7455).
DELUXE ROSE EXPERIENCE TOUR (May 4th only), in addition to the features of Perfume Rose Harvest Tour, includes special samplings of delicacies created using rose water: rose hip jam, Turkish delight, baklava, and more. Also you'll get a rare sample of a limited edition perfume, "M.A. Sillage de le Rein", commissioned by France's Versaille Museum. This is a first of its kind perfume re-created 2007 from a lost perfumers recipe for Marie Antoinette, by noted perfumer Francis Kurkdijan and was painstakenly made only with 100 percent natural ingredients and with the very same extraction techniques of that bygone era. This tour can only be described as exquisitely unique. This tour is for only one day, at the peak of flower production on Saturday May 4, and limited to 14 lucky quests. $50 per person.
